About the Role

As our first Integrations Engineer, you’ll work closely with the founders to make Brainner operate inside the systems our customers already rely on—primarily ATSs. You’ll own how we build, run, and evolve integrations, and play a key role in defining how AI agents interact with real-world recruiting tools.

This is a strong backend role with occasional frontend work to unblock onboarding and integration flows. As Brainner expands, you’ll help shape the integration layer, influence technical direction, and grow your scope and ownership with the company.

• React / Next.js
• AWS (CDK, serverless, EventBridge, SQS, OpenSearch)

In this role, you will:

• Own integrations end-to-end: building new ones, maintaining existing ones, and handling external API changes
• Define and implement integration patterns (auth, sync, events, retries, idempotency)
• Enable AI agents through integration-driven capabilities and safe execution paths
• Build and maintain automated tests for integrations and backend services
• Work directly with customers and ATS partners to diagnose issues and unblock releases
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction alongside the founders

About You

• Formal education in a relevant technical field (completed or not)
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in a production environment
• Proven experience building and owning systems or major features from scratch
• Strong backend engineering skills with Node.js and API design
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and production data models
• Solid experience building and operating systems on AWS, including serverless architectures, CDK, event-driven services and OpenSearch
• Practical experience building AI-powered features, working with LLMs, and integrating AI into production systems
• You actively use AI tools for coding and problem-solving and are comfortable working in an AI-native development workflow
• Comfortable making pragmatic frontend changes using React / Next.js when required
• Strong programming fundamentals with a focus on code quality, testing, and reliability
• Clear communicator, organized, and able to operate independently with high ownership
• Comfortable working closely with founders, customers, and external partners
